Oooh, how fun! I have a new HYPERFIXATION (it has to be in caps because I think of nothing else ever) and for this particular post, I'm going to focus on Kimchay, the pairing with the least amount of screen time and an unhappy ending but oh my god I love them so much.
Here’s the trailer. You might watch it and think, I’m not sure this is for me. Like I did because I’ve only watched Psych for the last 15 years and I don’t like angst, drama or violence.
Turns out, I’m easily seduced by excellent production, beautiful people in designer clothes, and this face.
So KinnPorsche is like a 100k AU written circa 2005 posted in 12 parts to LJ about a mafia prince who forces a hot young bartender to become his bodyguard. They fall in love and have a lot of hot sex but really they’re so stupid about one another it’s kind of adorable.
I have never seen a BL drama (didn’t know what that meant, had to look it up) or anything else so I have no idea if the genre is this over the top. But it’s a 14 hour wild ride from beginning to end. I hope if you embark, you’ll come and scream with me.
Anway, I’m not going to do a proper KinnPorsche primer because a) I’m sure they’re out there and b) I’m here for Kimchay.
(But real quick, this is what the bodyguards look like omg)
Kinn is the second of three brothers. His older brother, Tankhun, was kidnapped as a child and now he’s fantastically over the top and a hot mess while actually being the only smart one in the family. But it’s why Kinn is heir to the family business and not the oldest.
This is Kim. I know right???
Kim decided mafia life was Not For Him and peaced out to live in a fancy penthouse with bodyguards where he can pretend to be Wik, a singer who sounds almost as pretty as he looks.
Porchay is Porsche’s brother. Porsche raised Chay after their parents were killed. He is very feral about Porchay and their relationship is one of the best on the show.
So why am I obsessed with a pairing that has maybe 30 minutes of screen time and no happy ending?
Because they are the embodiment of the Sunshine One and the Grumpy One. Except Kim is the Cool One who’s Not Actually Cool but a total sap for Porchay and it’s delightful to watch him completely lose his mind for Wears His Heart on His Sleeve, Says What He Feels, Brave as Fuck Porchay. I’m insane for them, ngl.
